The shape of a downlight for metal halide
or sodium high pressure, can be exactly the same as a fluorescent
one, just lampholders and ballasts, together sometimes with
a specific glass filter, brings the difference. It’s
quite important to mention that the application of a down
lighter for discharge lamps has other type of “rules”
to place them in an installation, specially type of light
to be emitted and what is going to be lighted up, are the
keys to select an appropriate one.
Initially the following lamp holders are the most used;
Fc2,Rx7S,PG/PGX 12-2,G12,E-27,PG12-3,PG12-1, quite a huge
range but always relayed to the type of light to be emitted.
By the other hand LOWBAYS & HIGHBAYS, quite famous into
the industrial lighting installers, in combination with
the dowlights for discharge, are use to illuminate enormous
areas with a huge altitude ( bt 7mts up to 20mts ), normally
with sodium lamps 250W up to 1000w, lampholder E40, creating
a quite comfortable light tonality, focussing highly the
light thanks to its design, circular. |
